In a study published by Elsevier in July 2013, Cajochen C, et al. discuss the effects of the moon on human sleep patterns. Their findings concluded that these cycles resulted in:
- Decreased sleep by 30%
- An increase in time to fall asleep by 5 minutes
- Total sleep duration reduction by 20 minutes
“These changes were associated with a decrease in subjective sleep quality and diminished endogenous melatonin levels.”
